About 1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet connects dollars and doers to accelerate smart environmental giving through an alliance of businesses that understand the necessity or protecting the natural environment. These businesses donate 1% of annual sales to grassroots environmental non-profits.
Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia and Craig Matthews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, who both realised that we are facing an environmental crisis. In their words: “climate change is an imminent threat, our food systems are increasingly stressed, and our lands, waters and species are threatened like never before”.
The current level of environmental giving in the US is only 3% of total philanthropy and only 3% of that is from businesses. It is not enough to solve the most pressing issues facing our planet. Since 2002, 1% for the Planet has given more than $225 million to vetted grass-roots environmental non-profit organisations.
YOU SHOP - WE GIVE
You have an impact on the health and well-being of the planet and its inhabitants every time you shop with us.
With our 1% for the Planet commitment, that impact is now three-fold:
By choosing recycled materials over virgin fibres, you are supporting sustainability by the repurposing of plastic products and industry waste into some of the most sustainable performance cycling apparel on the market.
We don’t use any plastic when packaging and shipping your kit. Plastics affect our oceans, organisms and our own food system and is increasingly seen as a threat as serious as climate change.
For every purchase you make, we are committed to donating 1% of all online and wholesale retail sales to grassroots environmental non-profits.
